Author E. D. Hirsch has done an excellent job with these books. Each book in this series gives parents/teachers a general outline of what children should be learning at each particular grade level. Each book contains engaging and illustrated chapters on each of the following subjects: literature (folk lore, fairy tales, poems, legends and other stories), grammar, math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, time, money, fractions, and geometry), health, physical sciences, music, and visual arts. These books really contain a lot of pertinent information.
