Neuro-Developmental Tip For Learning

mom-sonhappy  KEEP IT FUN!

Research has shown that children learn best from their parents. A family’s familiar communication styles, systems, and cues make learning easier, even on those days when things are a struggle. Regardless of whether you are working with a child on a neuro-developmental program from Little Giant Steps, or doing curriculum or homework; the best thing to keep up front is your sense of humor. Teach through the eyes of a child - full of wonder, craving adventure, loving discovery of new things, and most of all, loving the undivided attention and interaction between you and your son or daughter or both!

INTENSITY, FREQUENCY, SHORT DURATION

When there is fun in the air, there is an added dimension of intensity that children love! Intensity is one of the defining features of getting stimuli to the brain. Repeated intensity  which leads us to the next step toward neurological efficiency is: Frequency (a couple of times a day). These two practices along with the last one I’ll mention will impact the brain to change, grow new pathways, and retain information.

Last, but not least is: Duration (short spirited sessions of two to ten minutes several times a day are more productive than spending a boring hour on a given subject). If you will focus on these three factors [Intensity, Frequency, and Duration] you will greatly impact any individual’s learning, whether on a formal neuro-developmental program, or not!

NOTICE: If some of you really don’t have any ideas for implementing fun with your child, please email me cj@littlegiantsteps.com and I’ll send you some examples you may like to incorporate into “teaching” your child and enjoying it more.  ;-) God bless.

My Child’s Smart, So Why Is He Failing? [Part 2]

Helpnote

A Solution That Works!

For over twenty years Little Giant Steps has been providing evaluations, academic testing, screenings, developed neuro-developmental programs, neuro-educational curriculum, tools, and learning aides. We have witnessed thousands of children (despite age or I.Q.) discover learning can be fun, fulfilling, and confidence-building by utilizing programs that change the root of functional problems by addressing and changing the connections in the brain – the source of our cognitive, physical, social, and spiritual development!  Please investigate. Then, take advantage of the free articles, auditory test kits, visual test kits, free webinars, and  free consultations. When you discover the program that makes sense to you, follow up and do it!  We work with people in our clinic, but also have great at-a-distance programs. In fact, Jan Bedell, our founder and mother of a challenged child, is so passionate about making the neuro-developmental/educational approach available to all who are searching for help, she’s developed a program that is done at home only. Developmental Foundations is one of many things she’s developed to help your child.

As a mother recently told me, “I realize with the changes I’ve seen in my daughter’s abilities to learn, and the her whole outlook on life improve, I can dedicate myself to working with her for however long it takes, because I now see and know that the time I invest with her will be a short time in MY life, but the benefits will for HER will be a whole LIFETIME!

Good luck!  Parents know their children better than anyone. You can do anything you set as a priority. Go to www.littlegiantsteps.com and gain the knowledge you need to proceed in changing your child’s life. Help them experience their true God-given potential!

Early Learning Foundations (ELF) – Successful Curriculum/Supplement

EarlyLearning1ELF-3ELF-2Seeing Is Believing

Early Learning Foundations is a program developed by Jan Bedell, the Brain Coach, who was the founder of Little Giant Steps. It is program based on the Neurodevelopmental Approach. For those lucky enough to seek an educational program that also addresses the root causes of learning struggles, they will discover the difference between teaching coping and compensating techniques, and actually fixing the underlying problem.

Ok, now be exposed to what this mom has to say about Early Learning Foundations:

“We received the package you mailed us with the student work book and Bible flash cards….THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!  We are greatly enjoying our “new” school time and the boys love having their own workbooks!  With this, I thought it would be nice to share the big hug with you that my second son gave me when I pulled out his very own workbook…so please consider yourself bear-hugged by my 5 year old this morning!

Please also extend our appreciation to Jan and the rest of the team for their loving endeavor to provide an easy to follow “structured” approach to combining math and the basic block of ND program exercises through the Early Learning Foundations Curriculum!  This curriculum has really helped us stay more on program the last two weeks AND has made integrating our personalized programs into the day much more achievable!  Needless to say, our boys are enjoying the school-exercise routine that’s finally getting (consistently) set in our home! The bonus for us as parents is that we’re really beginning to SEE differences in their processing and social skill abilities since adopting this ELF program into our personalized exercise program….the consistency and repetition really do help(!).  So, thanks for physically showing us HOW to integrate it altogether with ELF so we that could achieve this new level of growth in our ND program!

Thanks again for your help with our inquiries and blessings on you!  We’ll look forward to working with your team again for the next level of ELF! JP & Co.     Have a great day from all of us at Little Giant Steps!

Little Giant Steps is please to announce we have joined the Homeschool Block! We invite you to drop in, see our booth,  and don’t miss out on the book shelves! Be sure to scroll down from the booth and get a great view of our best products to help your child or family member become the best student, improved communicator and have the highest performance possible!

Many of our clients are homeschooling, and we thought it was high time we join the ranks of service providers on a national basis.  Jan Bedell, M.Ed., M.ND. also known as “The Brain Coach®”, has devoted the past twenty+ years to creating curriculum, educational supplements, tools, and aides that will “Make Learning Easier.” Little Giant Steps rescues those who are suffering from learning issues, struggle with memory, or have special needs. By the way, you are never too old or young to gain increased abilities!  The brain retains the ability to change for the better due to a unique feature called neuroplasticity. This  feature allows injuries to heal, new neuro-pathways (connections) to develop, and  offers developmental steps that may have been missed when you were small to be acquired.  One of our clients exclaimed, “This so great!  Now, I can remember what I know, I can retain what I’ve studied, and I can get 100% on my test scores!”  One of our adult clients said, “For the first time in my life, I can drive to a location without studying a map or using GPS….. I just remember and go ~ life is so much better without the anxiety and the frustration I’ve had all my life!”

Everyone can benefit from having a better organized brain, improved processing abilities, and internal efficiency in communication between the brain and body! Oh, by the way, this modality of making learning easier is called, The Neurodevelopment Approach!  It can be a family affair!  It can be fun, too!  All it requires is about 2 min. a day, twice a day.

Many of Jan’s programs give you video training, some are CDs and all give written instructions.  The activities are not difficult to do, they just need to be done as directed…. after all…. you are creating an environment in which more efficient neuro-pathways are being constructed in the brain.  All this is so you or your loved ones can think, remember, comprehend, and even perform better!  Please accept our invitation!  We’ll see you on the block!  God bless.

Tired of Struggling All The Time?

TiredIt’s Amazing How Things Can Change!

For many years I’ve seen children, teens, and even adults discover what it’s like to be one of those people who do not struggle every day and really enjoy life.  You see, Little Giant Steps’ Programs are so revolutionary, because when folks have difficulty with their thinking and learning processes, memory, getting themselves organized, or coordinating their brain and body activities; what they are really suffering from is neuro-inefficiency.  AND…. what causes neuro-(lack of typical mind/body neuro-pathways) is a matter of having missed some of the vital neuro-developmental activities when they were small! They are called developmental steps that either we had the opportunity to complete them successfully when we were tiny or we didn’t!

The way to “fix” those areas lacking the funtion that is dictated by their age and grade level, is to stimulate the brain in very specific, yet simple, and consistent patterns of activities.  The secret to creating new connections between the brain and body is by doing these specific, recommended activities following one of two ways. Evaluations by a Neruo-Educational Specialist or Neurodevelopmentalist, who have knowledge and training to test the individual and then write an individualized program suited to each person’s needs. Or, our founder, Jan Bedell, M.Ed.,M.ND. (the Brain Coach) has created curriculum, supplemental program, or basic at-home programs that will often times resolve issues. These programs, Early Learning Foundation, Developmental Foundations, Rapid Recall System, and many more you can find on our website store.  It is through these highly effective activities that we do programs uniquely with “Intensity, Duration, and Frequency”.

Don’t just take my word,  link to the success stores  where you will be introduced to many people whose lives were changed dramatically, and most importantly ~ happily.  While you’re there check out  Neurodevelopmental Testing of people from 5 to 55 improved by utilizing the Neurodevelopmental Approach.  It will show you what can be accomplished in a short amount of time with their reading comprehension, math, reading word recognition.  Just remember, learning problems, issues, or disabilities DO NOT have to last a lifetime!  Come back soon!

CURRICULUM FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS Part 1

 MANY CHANCES FOR SUCCESS

One thing we are finding more and more of these days with our preschool, and kindergarten children are that many display symptoms of having lower level brain disorganization. Organization of the brain is a naturally occurring developmental step, provided our infants were given the opportunity to be on the floor, on their tummies most of their waking hours.  Sadly, most of our children in the U.S. are being brought home in infant/car seats and they are spending most of their waking hours on their backs, waving their hands and feet in the air which doesn’t do anything to help the brain and body develop required neuro-pathways.  Without the stimulation of being on a hard surface where they can push, pull, feel, they need in order to create connections, help the brain learn the stimuli from the limbs, fingers, and toes and actually “map” their bodily systems, these little people are placed in a deficit learning position.  Another problem of sitting too much in seats, jumpers, swings, walkers, is the neuro-muscular strength-building process goes missing, too.  Am infant who is not pushing against hard surfaces which provides the neck and back muscles to gain strength and control will de destined to other probelms with their eyes (tracking, central detail vision, to name a few). The same is true for the extremities, their muscles will remain in a flaccid state, rather than develop strength, and tactility abilities.  All muscle impulses must be experienced by the brain so it can develop and organize the body’s system. Unfortunately for too many little ones, it just isn’t happening as our divine creator has designed with our new off-spring! The good news is that you can help develop these lacking abilitiesand bring them up to speed by working consistantly as directed by the Little Giant Steps’ Programs.  See this article about Teaching Babies.

 First things first

Regardless of the age of the individual, we first must get the brain and the body communicating efficiently. Jan Bedell, M.Ed., M.ND., has created a terrific video training called the Neuro-developmental Approach DVD.  If you watch it, follow what she teaches; you will see functional lagging or lack of function being developed as you work with your child both congnitively and physically through activities that stimulate the brain in just the ways it needs to be stimulated.

The next thing we see is the need to make sure your child’s processing abilities are at appropriate age or grade level.  If a child can’t process information, then their short-term memory can’t retain information long enough for them to learn effectively.  If the short-term memory is impaired, then the long-term memory is impacted, which makes for a serious life of struggling with learning, comprehending, retaining, and recalling information. A very sad state for too many of our kids these days.  How do you change that situation?  First order the Auditory and Visual Test Kits.  Please read the information on that page, as well.  By doing this test you will get a snapshot of your child’s, or family member’s current processing level or abilities.  It’s amazing how when whole families increase their processing abilities, there are fewer misunderstandings, frustrating times, and a more peaceful interaction when everyone is functioning at “grade level” or age-appropriate.  Not only does it solve lots of stressed social interaction, but the benefits of the academic acheivements are really amazing.  At my next post, we’ll talk about what next steps you can do to move into a harmonious, successful, and confidence-building life. A life that you can set in motion to become a well organized brain (through our brain training programs) and when you have neuro-efficiency, it’s been discribed by our clients as a simular experience of going from an internet dial-up line to a high speed, high performance connection!  Until next time ~ Blessings.

New Year, New Life Potential Activated!

 Start Today

I received a call from a woman in Arkansas early this morning. She’d seen the Little Giant Steps website and wanted to know if there were any of our services available in her area.  I explained that we provide services to families or individuals with learning issues/challenges all over the world. If a  professional evaluation was being requested and they were unable to come to Dallas; we can still provide services at-a-distance through the use of technology.  However, there are some things we recommend to do as a matter of gaining knowledge not only about our neuro-educational programs, but with our methods of working with learning issues, and our successes in working with a full range of learning issues regardless of whether an individual was gifted, typical, or challenged, but also take advantage of the many resources available as listed below:

1. Educating yourself so you know how our program works (THE NEURODEVELOPMENTAL APPROACH ~a life-changing seminar

2. Check your child’s processing abilities – FREE AUDITORY & VISUAL TEST KIT (a snapshot of short-term memory function)

3. FREELY VIEW and READ what people, who have used our services over the past 20 years, have to say about the realities of our success.

4. Then, as a parent, or an individual you can better decide whether WE ARE A GOOD SOLUTION for yourself or your child.

5. You have several options when working with us. If you decide not to start with a professional evaluation, you may want to invest in our in-home programs, (DEVELOPMENTAL FOUNDATIONS, EARLY LEARNING FOUNDATIONS Level 1,  Level 2,   Level 3) designed to address basic learning issues, such as disorganized thinking, low auditory or visual processing, comprehension or reading difficulties, difficulty with memory recall, or specific areas where function is below ones grade level.

Neuro-Efficiency is the Answer

Basically, our clients tell us after they have followed the neuro-programs, they experience their functional abilities going from what it’s like being on an Internet Dial-Up Line, to a High Speed Connection! A client told me, “Everything gets better, I can remember, do math, I even play sports better. It’s like my brain got a major tune-up!” One of our adults who was on program states, “For the first time in my life I don’t have sticky notes all over the place to remind me of things, and I can get in the car and drive to a destination without a map. My anxiety levels have dropped so dramatically, it’s like a miracle!”

The reason for the dramatic positive change for these folks is because our programs treat the root causes of dysfunction in the brain, rather than the symptoms associated with learning difficulties.  Jan Bedell, The Brain Coach, has developed curriculum, supplements, and many neuro-educationally-based programs that eliminate learning issues, all together! The secret of our success in the “way” these programs are applied.  They work from the core of our developmental basics.  They succeed because they are modeled from the way God created us and how our brains and bodies develop early on; with intensity, frequency, and short duration.  Everything we do is very natural, no drugs are ever needed, and the whole person is considered with the Little Giant Steps Neuro-Educational Programs.

As I hung up after speaking with this mom seeking a solution for her soon-to-be teen with many learning struggles; I was so glad each individual is treated with dignity, respect, and allowed to be in charge of their choices as to what is best for their own child, whether a full evaluation is where they want to start, or to try an in-home program and see the results they can accomplish through our DVD instructions.  We’ve tried to meet the needs of so many, because there are so many who know their child is smart, but for some unknown reason is failing instead of flourishing in their educational experiences. That’s why Little Giant Steps exists – to put a stop to the failing and to fix the problem, not to teach coping and compensating skills or talk about right or left brain. Learning issues, disabilities, struggles do not have to last a lifetime.  There is a solution.  Just let me know if you are looking for one.  God bless… and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas! You Can Make A Difference in 2013!

A Time For Hope, A Time For Learning Success

What a gift Christ has given to every soul on this earth, whether it’s embraced of not! All who believe shall have everlasting life!  It’s a matter of faith in Christ that we are all set free from the mistakes we’ve made, the wounds we’ve inflicted (intentional or not), the grief we’ve experienced, and the wounds we’ve suffered. With Christ, there is great hope, always!  Regardless of circumstances, with him we can overcome any problem.  It is in our spirit that the miracles happen, regardless of whether it is witnessed by others. But first, we must believe.  It’s ours, if only we believe in the beginning.  Then, it becomes self-evident, because there is a change.  A change no one can ignore, because it has become a truth for us and others to see.

Making Learning Easier

Little Giant Steps (LGS Services, Inc.), a neuro-educational consulting group, founded by Jan Bedell, the Brain Coach®, has had over twenty years of successfully turning learning disabilities, difficulties, and  issues into a thing of the past. For those children and families who have embraced our remedy for poor learning skills, followed the programs, and created a new foundation that can literally change the learning abilities of their child for the rest of their lives; there is great success and satisfaction.  Yes, it requires belief  when first starting with a Neuro-Educational Program.  However, typically within a few weeks we get reports from parents that things are changing with their child.  A mentally challenged teen begins to show signs of improved recall of sounds and words, as her processing abilities are developed.  A little ten year old boy diagnosed with Dyslexia after four weeks of program is doing better with his reading as his dominance issues are addressed. Or, an ADHD child who came to LGS because of uncontrollable intolerance to noise, inability to control emotions, etc.  begins to calm down and is less anxious in his world after experiencing the results of brain organization. That happens as a by-product of the neuro-activities that help organize the lower levels of the brain from the individual neuro-developmental program he’s receiving.  Or, when an Autistic child begins to function in a normal range of social and academic performance. Regardless of age, or I.Q., or where, in the range of disability, a child, teen or adult may be functioning – everyone can gain or regain a solid learning foundation when the brain and body can communicate with greater neuro-efficiency, improved processing (auditory or visual) abilities or organization occur, and when specific learning areas of dysfunction are remedied.

Making A Difference In A Child’s Life

The exciting part is that YOU, with the education LGS provides, the individual program, and professional assistance we give, can turn failure into success through the use of the services, tools, and neuro-educational programs that Jan Bedell created.  She’s even created a FREE test kit to help you get a snapshot of how your child is processing information! Learning disabilities do not have to last a lifetime!  We utilize a methodology that develops new connections within the brain.  If there are developmental stages missed in an infants life, that will affect one or more areas of learning, we build those missing foundations, so the dysfunction is eliminated. Over the last 50 years the Neuro-developmental Approach has grown, and become refined due to advances in technology and the neuro-sciences. Scientific discoveries keep confirming how and why the LGS Programs work so successfully.  To learn more, please read the free articles, the success stories, and the full range of products to address learning issues.  Yes, in the beginning it requires faith.  Then, as you begin to see your child gain skills and abilities, and as they learn how to handle themselves, the academics, and social experiences in their lives; you will become a believer, because you will know the truth, because it has become self-evident. Your child is confident, successful in what used to be a problem, and most importantly they are happy.

God bless all!  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
