When we talk about auditory processing, we are not speaking of the act of hearing or hearing impairment. Instead, we are talking about auditory processing as the ability to hold a series of auditory input in ones short-term memory. Auditory and visual processing are two ways we receive information. If there is a problem with information coming into the brain, then learning is diminished. If one cannot retain information in short-term memory, then the possibility of having long-term retention or recall becomes almost nil.
